About
Jacquil Constant was born in Brooklyn, New York to Haitian immigrant parents. His filmmaking talents emerged from viewing the brilliant performance of Denzel Washington acting in the film Malcolm X. For Jacquil, film served as an outlet where he could create without limits. As a Director/Producer he is able to channel his life experiences through his films. Throughout his career he has worked with networks such as MTV, BET, and VH1 in production, post-production and casting of reality television shows.

In 2006, Jacquil’s passion and determination led him to establish his own production company. Constant Productions has various music videos, short films, and commercials to its credit. Currently, Constant Productions is focused on the development of documentaries, feature films and television scripts. Jacquil is also the founder of Urban Media Arts Collective (UMAC), a non-profit organization. He established the organization to cultivate the next generation of artists and filmmakers.

He is a visionary with dreams of creating various platforms and networks where actors and filmmakers can collaborate to create powerful counter-hegemonic films. Jacquil has begun to take the first steps towards making these collaborations a reality. By uniting diverse filmmakers, actors and production professionals he hopes to weaken the cultural barriers engrained in Hollywood and create positive films starring people of color.

Jacquil Constant is a man on a mission and will be receiving a master’s degree in Digital Video Arts from Cal State Northridge in 2010. His versatility and creativeness embraces a practical approach to filmmaking which he also applies to his personal life.
